There were four of them.

Maera found the second one inside a minute, on the other wrist, in the same place; the third took her an hour, at the base of the throat, so faint that Eira could only see it by lamplight held at an angle; and the fourth she found by putting Eira's head down on the table and parting her hair with two fingers at the top of the spine, and going very quiet.
