There is a version of Anton Brandt that would be easier to like, and it is the one the town has, and he has never corrected it either.
The town's version is that Brandt stayed loyal. That he bought the old man's shed and kept the old man's boats and never spoke a word against anybody, and that this is a fine thing in a young man.
